CIMM DEFINITION: A coding system applied to digital content that manages the usage rights of that content. In order to present the content, the rights specified must be honored by the presenting device. This requirement is usually enforced by attaching the digital rights management (DRM) to encrypted content and protecting the information required to decode the content with keys that can only be obtained by a device authenticated by the DRM.
